Mount Baldy Ski Resort 2025.

In 2025, Mount Baldy Ski Resort refers to two distinct ski areas in different locations, each with its own set of characteristics: Mount Baldy Ski Lifts - California: Location: Situated in the San Gabriel Mountains, Mount Baldy Ski Lifts is approximately 45 miles from downtown Los Angeles, making it a close escape for those in Southern California. Terrain: Known for its steep and compact terrain, it offers 26 named trails across 800 acres with a vertical drop of 2,100 feet. The resort features traditional runs, open bowls, chutes, and tree runs, with portions of the mountain facing both north and south, which affects snow conditions throughout the day.
Facilities: It has four fixed-grip double chairlifts and is often described as an "old-school" resort due to its vintage equipment and lack of modern amenities like extensive snowmaking capabilities. The resort has been operational since 1952 and is known for its natural snow dependency, which can lead to varied operational status depending on snowfall. Snow Conditions: For 2025, recent reports suggest good snow conditions with significant snowfall, making it a skier's dream for those who enjoy natural powder. However, the resort's operations can be inconsistent due to weather dependency. Public Sentiment: Posts on X have highlighted that Mount Baldy could be one of the snowiest places during certain winter storms, suggesting it might be a prime destination for powder enthusiasts. Snow and Weather: The resort updates its snow report and weather conditions regularly, with forecasts noted to be somewhat inaccurate due to the microclimate of the area. For anyone planning to visit either resort in 2025: California's Mount Baldy would be ideal for those looking for a challenging, less crowded skiing experience with a focus on natural snow conditions. Keep an eye on weather forecasts for operational status.

BEST SNOW IN MOUNT BALDY IN SEVERAL YEARS!

Pacific storm blankets SoCal's best little ski area with four feet of powder January 30, 2017 By David Reddick The massive snowfall that has blanketed the West hasn’t forsaken the mountains of Southern California. Locals keep a close eye on these systems, and over the last decade we’ve been regularly disappointed by a shift in the jet stream or warm temperatures. But the most recent series of cold storms graced the raw, rugged terrain of Mount Baldy, a mom-and-pop ski area located just 45 miles from Los Angeles in the San Gabriel Mountains, with four feet of snow, rewarding locals with a day to remember. Hello, old friend, it’s been a while. Read more at http://www.powder.com/stories/storm-dispatch-mt-baldy-california/#DjRszDjV0zc9rYvf.99

MOUNT BALDY SKI RESORT GOT SOME SNOW!

Mountain Report: December 20, 2015
The most recent system to bring precipitation to the area has moved on leaving us with some rain, west winds and a fresh frosting of the white stuff on the trees and ground at higher elevations. The forecast for the week calls for west winds and clear skies for the first half with a small ridge building through Friday with temps climbing up to a bit above normal. The 10 day is starting to discus the possibility of rain after next weekend but is very vague at this point. However our friends up in the Sierra have become a bit more bullish with their forecasts. Check it out. We will be closed this week until Friday when we open for the holiday break 7 days a week for scenic rides to the Top of the Notch restaurant, snow tubing and a small terrain park accessed by Lift #2. Come hang with us at Rok House Brewery Wednesday night when we award them with their trophy for winning the Battle of the Brews this summer and watch Nimbus Independent’s release of ‘After the Sky Falls’. See you on the mountain, if we don’t see you at Rok first. FULL REPORT AT:http://mtbaldyskilifts.com/mountain-report-december-14-2015/

Expect these clear skies to stay with us through the weekend with a warming trend. We expect day time highs to get upwards to around 50 degrees or so by the weekend with an offshore flow. The recent front that pushed through brought cold weather but not so much in the way of precipitation, at least for us. Up north in the Sierra’s they are reporting over 20″ which is a great sign for the winter to come. The most current El Nino reports tell us that we are still on track for a wet winter although we should not expect to see the effects of the El Nino effects until later into December. Long range forecasts are pointing to another substantial front to move through the pacific some time before the Thanksgiving break. We’ll have our fingers crossed that it will be headed our way. Freak storm hits mount baldy,ca in early august 2014!

I live just a few miles below Mount Baldy and visit the village frequently. So i had to drive up the day after the storm to see the damage it caused, well for a storm that lasted for only about an hour,it did a lot of damage!i saw several homes/cabins buried in rocks, mud, and rubble. i send out thoughts and prayers to the villagers in mount baldy! I must have seen over 20 news vans in the baldy village when i was there and stopped at the BALDY LODGE for lunch,i always try to support the few exiting businesses in the baldy village. You should too, it's always a fun and interesting time in the village. below is an article from KTLA news, /
As cleanup efforts were underway Monday, emergency personnel were surveying the damage left after thunderstorms in and around San Bernardino County wreaked havoc in the region the previous day, including leaving one man dead. Heavy rain led to flash flooding and triggered mudslides in San Bernardino County on Aug. 3, 2014. (Credit: Casper News) Heavy rain led to flash flooding and triggered mudslides in San Bernardino County on Aug. 3, 2014. (Credit: Casper News) Authorities were also searching Monday afternoon for one person who may be trapped in a flooded area of Mount Baldy after two hikers heard a person crying out in distress. The storm hit Southern California on Sunday afternoon, bringing torrential rains to the mountain and desert areas, while also triggering mudslides and flash floods stranded thousands of people. A 48-year-old man was killed on Mount Baldy when his vehicle was swept off a roadway and into a creek, according to San Bernardino County Fire Department spokesman Chris Prater. He was identified by Lt. Fred Corral with the Los Angeles County coroner’s office as Joo Hwan Lee of El Segundo. Family members were gathering at his apartment but were too distraught to speak. One person at the home said Lee had been hiking before his death. Hiking the trail of mount baldy in the summer.

Mount Baldy is the preeminent mountain in the Angeles National Forest. Although its real name is Mount San Antonio, no one calls it that; to everyone, it is simply Mount Baldy. Once on top, it should be obvious as to why it has been given this moniker. Though there are no trees on top, the trail itself is lush and filled with vegetation. In fact, there are not many trails in the entire forest that are much nicer. THE HISTORY OF MOUNT BALDY,CALIFORNIA

Home of the annual Summer Run to the Top Race and site of one of the closest winter ski lifts to Los Angeles, California, Mt. Baldy is a popular destination for outdoor enthusiasts. With a rich history, Mt. Baldy is one of the most well recognized and visited mountains in Southern California.
Elevation* Mt. Baldy's peak is at 10,064 feet, making it the tallest mountain in Los Angeles County. Formation The highest point in the San Gabriel Mountain Range, Mt. Baldy is an example of a "folded" mountain. It was formed as the result of seismic forces along multiple fault lines that transverse the range and are associated with the collision zone involving the North American and Pacific plates in the Earth's crust. Name Officially named Mt. San Antonio, this snow-covered mountain gained its nickname from its treeless summit. Bald and snow-capped, the peak is easily recognized through the winter and spring. Human History The Gabrielino-Tongva tribe's history in the Los Angeles basin dates 7,000 years. Tribe members called the snow-capped mountain, "Yoat," which means snow. Today the tribe shares their culture through educational events at the Mt. Baldy Environmental Education Center. Mt. Baldy Schoolhouse Opened in 1921 as a school for the settlement that is known today as the town of Sierra Madre, the Mt. Baldy Schoolhouse closed in the 1970's after it failed to pass new earthquake standards. Today the old Schoolhouse serves as the Mt. Baldy Visitor Center. Mt. Baldy Zen Center Founded in 1971, the Mt. Baldy Zen Center still acts as a retreat center for students of the Rinzai Zen lineage. Read more at Trails.com: The History of Mt. mt. baldy

Mt. Baldy ski area, San Gabriel Mountains, California

(...) While the staff is great, and the locals are tremendous, this is a very advanced mountain with extremely challenging conditions that are nothing like anything else in Southern California.ÿ You cannot compare a slope like, say, Vertigo at Mountain High West, rated as a double-black diamond, with any double-black diamond at Baldy, where the slopes are far steeper and have numerous obstacles.ÿ While I found some really sweet powder their last week, the area is prone to very high winds, sheets of glassy ice where you
would never expect them, and even after a big snowfall, there are stretches of mud, dirt, and rocks.ÿÿ If you take training seriously, and are experienced, and you pay attention every single second, and you don't mind having the living crap scared out of you,
you can have a great time on this mountain.ÿ If you are lazy, drunk or inexperienced, be prepared to go home in a cast-- or a helicopter.ÿ --Ma says Matthew.

The Mt. Baldy Ski Patrol is the best ski patrol in the country and the mountain is absolutely fantastic! says Jay Reidy.

All 4 lifts at this ski resort are capably taken care of and operated by caring folks. This ski resort has 400 acres of terrain, and it's all in wonderful shape. Mt. Baldy has the biggest drop among ski mountains in a 310 mile

radius. This ski resort has an average ratio of advanced and expert trails and an average percentage of green and blue ski slopes. Mt. Baldy is a smaller size than average ski resort having a roughly average altitude difference when compared to other west coast ski mountains. There aren’t any hotels close by, but if you're ready to go a small length then no problem, but if you don’t have reservations, you could end up slumbering in your car. This ski mountain gets blanketed by an average amount of snow every snow season. This ski area has an elevation difference of 2,100 feet which is remarkable. Mt. Baldy has a reasonable variety of ski slopes and few lifts. This ski hill gets 8 feet of snow every winter, and that keeps the depth delightful. The pretty loveliness of the California highlands and tremendous trails make the visit here worthwhile. The skiing and the snowboarding in this region is scores of fun the whole winter. All the 28 ski runs here are glorious. The ski map of Mt. Baldy on this web page of course says a thousand words. Getting a glorious workout and just being on the slopes for a while outclasses anything. The mountains of the San Gabriel Mountains in wintertime are a brilliant place for snowboarding or skiing. In wintertime the California mountains are a brilliant place for snowboarding or skiing. The San Gabriel Mountains and its mountains is a sight worth seeing. You might be into skiing or snowboarding, or both, doesn't matter, this is a vicinity with a load of sites for that.
