MOUNT BALDY SKI RESORT GOT SOME SNOW!
Mountain Report: December 20, 2015
The most recent system to bring precipitation to the area has moved on leaving us with some rain, west winds and a fresh frosting of the white stuff on the trees and ground at higher elevations. The forecast for the week calls for west winds and clear skies for the first half with a small ridge building through Friday with temps climbing up to a bit above normal. The 10 day is starting to discus the possibility of rain after next weekend but is very vague at this point. However our friends up in the Sierra have become a bit more bullish with their forecasts. Check it out.
We will be closed this week until Friday when we open for the holiday break 7 days a week for scenic rides to the Top of the Notch restaurant, snow tubing and a small terrain park accessed by Lift #2.
Come hang with us at Rok House Brewery Wednesday night when we award them with their trophy for winning the Battle of the Brews this summer and watch Nimbus Independent’s release of ‘After the Sky Falls’.
See you on the mountain, if we don’t see you at Rok first.

STILL WAITING FOR SNOW @ THE MOUNT BALDY SKI RESORT IN 2015!
*
Mountain Report
November 10, 2015
Clear skies on the mountain with low temps that are great for making snow. Expect these clear skies to stay with us through the weekend with a warming trend. We expect day time highs to get upwards to around 50 degrees or so by the weekend with an offshore flow.
The recent front that pushed through brought cold weather but not so much in the way of precipitation, at least for us. Up north in the Sierra’s they are reporting over 20″ which is a great sign for the winter to come. The most current El Nino reports tell us that we are still on track for a wet winter although we should not expect to see the effects of the El Nino effects until later into December. Long range forecasts are pointing to another substantial front to move through the pacific some time before the Thanksgiving break. We’ll have our fingers crossed that it will be headed our way.
See you on the mountain.

Freak storm hits mount baldy,ca in early august 2014!
I live just a few miles below Mount Baldy and visit the village frequently. So i had to drive up the day after the storm to see the damage it caused, well for a storm that lasted for only about an hour,it did a lot of damage!i saw several homes/cabins buried in rocks, mud, and rubble.
i send out thoughts and prayers to the villagers in mount baldy!
I must have seen over 20 news vans in the baldy village when i was there and stopped at the BALDY LODGE for lunch,i always try to support the few exiting businesses in the baldy village. You should too, it's always a fun and interesting time in the village.
below is an article from KTLA news, /
As cleanup efforts were underway Monday, emergency personnel were surveying the damage left after thunderstorms in and around San Bernardino County wreaked havoc in the region the previous day, including leaving one man dead.

Authorities were also searching Monday afternoon for one person who may be trapped in a flooded area of Mount Baldy after two hikers heard a person crying out in distress.
The storm hit Southern California on Sunday afternoon, bringing torrential rains to the mountain and desert areas, while also triggering mudslides and flash floods stranded thousands of people.
A 48-year-old man was killed on Mount Baldy when his vehicle was swept off a roadway and into a creek, according to San Bernardino County Fire Department spokesman Chris Prater.
He was identified by Lt. Fred Corral with the Los Angeles County coroner’s office as Joo Hwan Lee of El Segundo.
Family members were gathering at his apartment but were too distraught to speak. One person at the home said Lee had been hiking before his death.

Hiking the trail of mount baldy in the summer.
Mount Baldy is the preeminent mountain in the Angeles National Forest. Although its real name is Mount San Antonio, no one calls it that; to everyone, it is simply Mount Baldy. Once on top, it should be obvious as to why it has been given this moniker. Though there are no trees on top, the trail itself is lush and filled with vegetation. In fact, there are not many trails in the entire forest that are much nicer.
